Did I do any harm?

This is embarrassing to say, pretty stupid of me cause I know better, but here's what I done.
I took off my shaft mount rockers, and I didn't take out any spark plugs. So in taking the rockers off I would rotate motor to close the valves to take rockers off( as u shouldn't take rocker off while the valve is open) when almost done as I was cranking motor with button she got really hard to crank ( of course cause almost all valves are closed, only 2 rockers left on) the motor did slowly turn over. At the time I was just thinking that the battery was down.
So would this cause any damage? Or would the air jus force pass the rings?
