1. I hear mixed reviews of the cometic mls head gaskets. which is typical for hp head gaskets of all manufacturers. What are you guys opinions on their other stuff like oil pan, water pump gaskets, etc.?

2. TFS steel core head gaskets that come with the set to match their intakes?

The key to making a MLS gasket work properly is to get the correct RA finish cut on the mating surfaces.
I've used many MLS gaskets on all kinds of motors, the only time I ever had a problem was with my turbo'd 2.3L 4 popper. The MLS just refused to hold in the boost (cyl. pressure), even with the correct finish, ARP studs, etc..
Finally had to do the double stainless wire receiver groove/copper gasket deal.

thanks, that's inline with what others have told me about the MLS.

Nobody has any input on the other Cometic stuff?

The Cometic intake gaskets are very good.
