Anyone know about Jeeps??
Just got a 1984 Jeep Cherokee Chief. Its a 4x4 with a 4cyl. and manual trans.
Has factory push bar in front, skid plates underneath, etc.
Has been sitting for 10 years. Ran when parked, so will probably run with some fresh gas and a battery. Reason why it was parked I am told because the clutch is smoked.
Just wondering if something like this is worth $1500 on the market??

As long as it's not rotted out, it's hard to find any 4x4 that's not junk for that.

They were pretty good vehicles especially in their day however the 4 banger is definitely under powered. Look it over closely as its a unibody if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, its the unibody version. It was purchased new and always owned by the same man, who is now getting up there in age, he's 76 years old.
So one owner, never abused, but when he parked it, he parked it under a tree and some high winds caused a branch to break off and it hit the roof, putting a nice dent in it!!
Other than that and the clutch, it just needs some good clean up and care to be a decent driver.

BBFTorino,
Around here, $1500 would be a steal! You can find decent, specific online advice/assistance at: Jeepforum.com
I bought a similar condition '95 YJ (Wrangler) 4-cyl/5-spd Jeep. After getting the squirrel's nest out of the airbox, changing the fuel filter and battery, it did start and run. I went through the rest of it, changing most of the fluids - both diffs, transfer case, transmission, motor oil, bleed the brakes, and coolant. Some patch work on the floorboards, replaced the radiator, had the cracked exhaust manifold welded up, and replaced the four shocks and steering dampener......soon I'm planning to push snow with it!
