Radial vs. the world
Hey guys! I went to lights out 9 back in February and watched these cars in person and it was unbelievable. I saw a few ford powered cars and that was awesome. One guy had a NT new model black mustang with gen 2 Thor heads that was hauling the mail. I also met a guy by the name of Cheyenne Stanley that was super cool who ran a C-headed 632 from Kentucky!
Anyways, let’s bench race a little and talk about what kind of ford set-up it would take to be in the hunt in this rediculous RvsW class. #1 qualifier went 3.62 last night!!!!

I don't know. I do know this, Micke has the coontune on that GBody. The 3.64/220 and 3.67/221 passes have insane MPH. They are within a tenth of the ProMod times.

Yeah at lights out 9 the first time he ran I was expecting a mid 4 second pass cause it looked like a regular old g-body, then it busted into the 3’s and everybody went crazy! That car is hauling the mail

It's a byproduct of the traction control/boost control/timing control boxes ramping the big power back in down track after the soft launch to dead-hook the radials.

I get that. What I meant was Micke picked up 6-7mph from his record that was set Jan. this year and how much higher it was then the rest of the cars in the field for this race. IE he is making some serious HP.
Radial Racing is pretty good I think. Any drag racing with fast cars that is not cookie cutter boring like Pro Stock works for me.

PS: Dave the Micke car is also running a 2 speed TH400 with a lock up converter, that he builds. I suspect that helps his MPH?

Re: Radial vs. the world
They said Micke was running a 540ish stock bore space BBC with twin 94mm turbos and was making 4000hp!
This level of power is crazy! Could a ford combo with C-heads do this? It would be so cool to see a die hard ford guy in the mix!

Keith Szabo just won a big no prep race with a twin turbo big block Ford. What's he run on a super sticky, very well preped track?

Micke is running a 4.84" space 548 all billet block and I believe spread port ( A Symetrical or whatever you call it, like a Ford) billet heads, at around 80lbs of boost. It also has been said that his lock up converter 2spd Th400 acts as a 4sp. by locking and unlocking the converter during the run.
I believe the 2sd. lockup deal is just part of his edge, he has the HP as seen from the MPH and it is dialed in to the max.
The car has been around for over 20 years and is also heavily after market supported and sponsered by the big players.
If you put the money and support behind a 4.9" bore space all billet engine at the same level, I think it would compete or run better.
Would either one (ie Micke's 548) be much like a 4.9" BS Ford or 4.84" BS Chevy with parts off the shelf in current production is the more the question?

Re: Radial vs. the world
Lots of development happens when you offer weight breaks also, look at what it's done for the power glide. Does Mike get a break for running a 2 speed T-400 because it's a "2" speed?

Re: Radial vs. the world
So the BS goes from 4.84" and then jumps to 5.00", if you run a BB Ford do you fall under the weight class of the 4.84" BS because it's a factory spacing?
