Re: roller lifters
How long did the crowers last? Why did the lifter fail or what failed?

Re: roller lifters
the crower lifters are about a season old...
what happen we were cracking the bronze valve guides so we installed hemi steel guides with a k liner it hung 3 exhaust valves open on our last run did a bit of damage 2 pistons holed 3 broken exhaust valves and a smashed lifter..
not real sure whats happen the guides may have been a little tight...was talking to a guy this morning saying that the guide may be too long in the exhaust port and was heating up under boost and sticking...not real sure never had this problem before with the bronze guides..bit of a bad start to the season for us...since i need a new set of lifters i was wondering if theirs a better choice..

Re: roller lifters
I had bronze guides in a 2.3L Ford turbo motor and they stuck all 4 exhaust valves open with the high heat of the turbo atmosphere. Had to open up the guide clearance a bit to compensate for all the massive expansion.

If your looking for a more reliable lifter..I'd talk to Mike at (Jones Cam Designs) about his new Evo-16 steel on steel roller lifter upgrade.. his does have a .210 offset .904 roller lifter for Big block fords.
He talked about them on yellow bullet.. 2 seasons with some hardcore racers up to and over 1600lbs open spring pressure with no failures or measurable wear, lash loss etc..

Re: roller lifters
Sounds to me like the lifter isn’t the issue or the cause of the failure.
Why change??? Crower lifters are a pretty good part IMO

Re: roller lifters
yes you are right i dont think the lifter failed as i have always run crower with no problems...
was just looking to see if there was a better choice out there..
pretty sure the valve sticking has caused all the problems...i have welded up the head and getting the guides cut back a bit and some new seats..
i have had to put a couple of well used pistons back in the engine as i cant get a reply from diamond pistons for some replacements...i have tried to contact them for over a week with no reply's...

Re: roller lifters
The Crowers are good and if it's not broke (due to a lifter failure) then don't fix it. BAM Lifters is another highly reputable lifter company.
