welding oil pan
I have a seam leaking on my oil pan. If I drain the pan can this seam be mig welded with out worry of lighting up the engine? Or is there an epoxy
I can use on this?
Thanks Tore

Re: welding oil pan
Iv'e never had much luck with epoxy ( jb weld) repairs being permanent, after a couple months it starts to weep again. As far as welding on the car, not sure, for me personally, I wouldn't for the fire risk
and also porosity in the weld.
and also porosity in the weld.

I found a good 2, 2.5 inch crack in the bottom of my pan, good thing it was off
the motor, my Artist of a welder said he had to weld both sides, inside and outside
to make sure it doesn't leak.
It doesn't.

I would not weld it in the car if you weld it on the engine you are going to have burnt oil in the pan that not good when it lets loose and goes into the pump and bearings

Clean it good with brake clean and brush paint it with a fiberglass resin liquid like for boat repairs.
