Re: Got my first win of the year !!
Last year we had a great year winning the championship in the class , this year #1 thing just happy our track is open but to start the season off this way is awesome. This car now has a total of 5 wins now . The engine combo is simple and effective, change oil check lash every couple of races. Being solid flat tappet and not having crazy spring pressures . We run 10.00 index at yellowbullet nationals , and locally 10.50 index . Car has been 9.70s all out. I dont get on here as much as I used to but a lot of knowledge on here as helped me . Randy Malik custom grind cams gets the job done fyi
My wife is even running in 11.50 index in a mustang this year

Congrats ...
I'm just curious, did you get a new set of headers or just cut-off the old one ahead of the bend and use a slip-on collector...?
All the non-Ford people there must be "pulling their hair out".

Randy ,
I ended up taking header off pulling and heating the kinks out , finished the season off with them and over the winter I found another used set cheap and replaced it .
Thanks for kind words, and yes the chevy boys dont like it and they cant believe how fast and good the combo is with a solid lifter cam for some reason . Alot of guys think you need some big roller cam . I tell them I have a matched combo that works . Also weighting 2930lbs with me helps

EXACTLY ... A ten second car might go a tenth faster with a roller set-up if the valve lift remained about the same. The ability to get to much higher lifts is the advantage of a roller cam.
If your heads won't take advantage of the extra valve lift, then a good flat tappet scenario will certainly be more dependable and consistent.
EDIT: that "tenth" is in a quarter mile. Probably about 4 hundredths in an eighth mile.

Congrats
Probably not on these boards too much, but there are a lot of people that don't realize the effort, money, and dedication it takes, to do what you have done. Great Job

Please don't misunderstand me. If I have a 6.0 1/8 mile Fairlane, a tenth means 5.90. "I have a 5 second Fairlane" bragging rights so to say.. I don't mean any harm, just trying to be a little lighthearted today.

Re: Got my first win of the year !!
Not to be labor the point. That would still give me a 5.96. I would be happy with that. Of coarse at 78 I'd be happy to hear it run, sitting on the new Mickeys I bought.

I'm confused
You have a car that goes 6.0's in 1/8th mile and i'm assuming and you want to go 5.90s ? picking up a tenth you stated for bragging rights
I'm not sure what your trying to ask
My car all out goes 9.70s at 133mph 1/4 mile and 6.16 in the 1/8th at 116mph before slowing it up for the index stuff

I was posting a hypothetical of gaining a tenth with a roller cam. I wasn't referring to you. You are doing great and should be very proud. My hypothetical was in reference to something RM said. I've been on here for years and I'm still called a troll. I meant no harm. --It seems whatever I say does not come out right. Maybe it's my looks.
