95cc pistons Empty 95cc pistons

Post  Maulerman1960 October 28th 2021, 5:10 am

I’m struggling to find pistons for my 460 to give me a 10 to 1 compression ratio with 95cc Procomp/Speedmaster heads. Is there a budget piston available that fits the bill?

Nothing that’s rebuilder cheap, a few companies do offer domed on the shelf pistons but they are usually in the $800 and up range. You might score some old used TRW/Speedpro domed pistons on the cheaper side, it they are heavy.

A budget flat-top & zero decking the block is as close as you're going to get.

”Budget” would be the Silvolite 3191HC flat top with press-fit rods. Deck block to 10.29” and use a Felpro blue 0.041” head gasket.  Makes about 9.75:1 with a +0.030” and about 9.9:1 with a +0.060”.  A really big flat tappet cam might dictate valve pocket machining; a smallish flat tappet cam may not with the 95cc Procomp head (other heads would need the bigger valve pocket regardless).

Forged flat top pistons are made by several manufacturers but not as “budget” priced, relatively speaking.

Flat top, deck high, .040 x 4.500 gasket and take the heads to 92ccs.
