10-4, the crank doesn't know what the deck height is.

Bore x Bore x Stroke x 6.2832 = cubic inches

Thanks guys, should have asked it differently - the 4.900 BS blocks.

86BB, it will be enough this year, but probably not in the years to come. Planning on starting a shortblock for 2011 during the 2010 season.

I'm still confused by your question. Bore spacing has no real bearing on displacement, other than maximum overbore capability. We have gone to 4.700" on the 4.900" bore spacing blocks in the past. Beyond that, please elaborate.

I "think" he means what size engines are commonly built with the tall deck stuff,,,,like what Jon Kaase has built or Carroll Carter has built. For example it's common with the 11.200" tall deck block, to build a 665 CID engine, which is 4.600 X 5.000". You can also put a 5.25" stroke crankshaft in an 11.200" block,,,, and after that you need to go to the 11.700" block.

However, maybe I'm wrong and this isn't what he's asking.

Not trying to confuse anyone, sorry for that. Let me try it this way - want to build a larger motor for next season, utilizing my Thor heads - was looking for different combinations, large CI that will work well and with an aluminum block. The car needs to lose some weight as well -

OK, I got it now. As Charlie said, the 11.2" deck will get you 665" very easy. The aluminum block will save 125# minimum in my experience. If you want big time room for growth, go with the 12" deck. Same money as the 11.2" or close to it.

What are proven "reliable" combinations on an 11.700 block? Bore, Stroke, CI?

The 707" combo comes to mind for the 11.700 deck block. 5.25" stroke, 4.625" bore(actually need a 4.630" bore to get a true 707"). 4.900 bore space will work with the Thors, I would think.
