Boomerang II....my second buyback car--83 Mustang GT...which way to go ??
Well, I bought back my 83 Mustang GT I sold 4 years ago.
Got it back from the same guy I sold it to in 2006. He parked it in his garage and didn't touch it for 4 years. I just happen to see it on Racing Junk. I took the engine out of it in 2006 and sold it as a roller.
Not sure which diraction to go on the car tho. A 460 looks tempting, but I already have 2 of those.
I have a 351W and AOD from a 84 Crown Vic Police Car. (to make a cool cruiser)
This car was built in Sept. 82 so that makes it a 4 speed car.
I have wanted a Stock Eliminator for years, but I don't think a 83 GT would be competitive as a stocker.
Interior is nice. 67K miles on the odo. I don't believe it has rolled over tho.
Now I have to make a decision on which way to go.

I remember in early 1983 I was working at a chain auto parts store. I was a Mopar/ Buick guy at the time but when those 83 GTs started hitting the Ford dealer, I just fell in love with the White/black stripe hood combo.
Those 83-84 models seem wimpy today compared with the factory 412 HP Mustangs ready to roll from the factory this year. I still like the look of the older ones tho.
Here is a pic of my "original" Boomerang....79 460 Fairmont I bought 3 times...that car just kept coming back.

Nice
Both the Mustang & The Fairmont look great.
Don't see either of those very often.

I got some pics with the big-n-skinnies I have had stored for years. I like the "old school" look with the space saver fronts.
Those M/T EtStreets (28-12.50) look big but fit just fine.
I have the itch to put my old 460 in it, but a 351w would be a wiser decision. I have plenty of time to make a decision seeing as how I have 3 cars to bracket race right now.

Well, my little plan got de-railed yesterday.
I bought an '01 DHG Bullitt with a bad 4.6 so I will probably sell the '83 GT.
Now the idea of putting a 460 in the Bullitt keeps going thru my brain......

Yeah, I was just thinking, you need another project!!!!
Love the Bullitts!! That would be a very cool BBF set up.
The 83 shouldn't be too hard to get rid of, it looks pretty solid. But then you'll just buy it back in a couple of years! Maybe you should just get some warehouse space......

I laughed when I read that Bill.
Yes, a warehouse would be great. We have officially broke an all time high for car count....12 now

Bill:
It will fit, but I am learning about things that need to be worked around.
Those cars have a returnless fuel system. I could use the fuel line from back to front but put a high flow carb style pump in the back.
Not sure how much the ECM interfaces with the dash instuments yet tho. Might have to use aftermarket gauges...hope not.
The hydoboost master cylinder appears as if it will clear the 460 valve covers, but the hyd. P/S pump would have to go on the passenger side.
That car would be great with my new 512 Procharged BBF.
Since the car already has a procharger on the 4.6, the boost gauge and 3 core intercooler are already in place.
That fake hoodscoop looks good. Also looks like I could cut a hole in the hood to clear the carb bonnet.
I have all these crazy ideas going thru my head...oh, the possibilities...

Nah, sold it after the 2004 race season was over.
That car was bought by a guy in Lexington , KY and later sold to a guy in the midwest and built up to run pinks all out, or so I was told. Would still like to have it back as well.
That car rattled, was rusty, had holes in the floor, and wasn't especially quick.
But it was fun at the time and won alot of rounds bracket racing.
