Re: The best Powerglide Fluid
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie on here and this is my first real post. Just wanted to add some additional info to what Jon Posted to clear up any muddy water.
Jon (Richter69) is using the 204 SAT synth trans fluid. Has a viscosity of 7.0-7.9 (CST @ 100ºC) about center of mass of a 20 weight. Hey Jon!
The 115 Simplex has a slightly highger viscosity at 9.1 - 9.7 (CST @ 100ºC).
The 315 SIMPLEX SUPREME is at 9.1-10 (CST @ 100ºC).
The 115 Simplex is a high viscosity index (140) 100% paraffin base stock (high end dino fluid) - pretty stout for a dino fluid.
The 204SAT is a full synthetic with a Viscosity Index of 196.
The 315 Simplex Supreme is severely hydrotreated polyalphaolefin (PAO)
synthetic fluids and solvent refined severely hydro-finished high viscosity index 100% paraffin
base oil , basically a synthettic blend (PAO & Paraffin base stock) with a Viscosity Index of 150.
Jon, did you initailly mix the 204SAT with the John Deer Hyguard fluid? Then changed to using only the 204SAT - It was a year or two ago and many beers later I forgot.....

Re: The best Powerglide Fluid
one more thing:
Schaeffer's does not recommend using the 315 in powershift transmission applications that specify the use of a Caterpillar TO-
4 type fluid.

Re: The best Powerglide Fluid
Just using the 204 straight in the glide this year. For sure want to send a sample in at the end of the season (Buick-Ford will be the last race)

RE: Best trans fluid
I've been running Case Hy Trans Plus for years and it works great. No problems, nothing in the pan when serviced and the oil analysis always comes back good..
