Guess what just arrived... 04Pistons, rods, bearings, block, crank. Gaskets rings and bolts are on their way! Very Happy Its on! Basketball It might not be much to you guys, but this is my first engine build that is for ME and its also the first and only BBF in the house. From what I know, maybe back in the day my dad had one but I don't think so. I'll upload pictures soon. On another note, I applied for a job at a local body shop today. My dad knows the owner and he knows some other people who are friends with the owner. Suspect Wish me luck, I'm hoping to be a porter. If all goes well I will put all my money away after my truck is done. Then I might be buying a blower Twisted Evil Hello blower fund! Laughing

Thanks, I want to get the bottom end in so bad. I've got the majority of the parts to get it together. My only concern is some light rust in the lifter bores, a scuff pad should do the trick if I remember correctly. Oh, and spiral locks aren't used on press fit wrist pins are they?

The way I look at it, if I work I get money. Money is needed to build a nice car. A lot of kids say "oh I need to get a job I need the money" they just spend it on stupid stuff. I invest my money in stuff I will use, before I was into cars I wasn't like that. So muscle cars have shaped me into what I am today, gotta love 'em. I can't wait, I want to go out to the garage and assemble it right now!

But I'm going to take my time, the truck is just the frame right now with the body panels ready to go on. I don't want to rush it, I want to make sure she's done right. I would like to build an engine test stand to break her in on and so I can start her up so its not just sitting there. Me and my brother started one, but he was the one who started the work so I can't really just take over. Its not going to get done unless I do it, its not really started. But we were going to use a 351w he has sitting around to test it with, so I of course now that I have an engine in the garage I can build it around that. Very Happy Whew that was a lot of typing Smile

Good deal Justin!! Just make sure and take your time, it is hard now to just rip into every box and start slapping it together. Mistakes ahppen then - ask me how I know!! Plan it out, take your time and check, re-check, and check again!!

X2 on what Bill said
Justin just make sure as you start putting it to make sure you clean the new parts good and take your time to check everything. Even if you put the oil pan on and get to thinking did I recheck (just say the oil pick up) pull the pan and recheck it along with everything ealse to make sure.I now you said this will be your 1st build but double and triple check everything so when you fire it up you not worried if you missed something.
Good luck on your 1st build.

When I start a project like this I like to make a checklist. I know it sounds like a pta but it will really help you stay organized and keep things orderly. Before you mark anything off just make sure you are happy with what you have done, ie, check, double check, check again, then when satisfied check it off. The most important thing is to have fun.
