Adney Brown of Performance Crankshafts did an absolutely outstanding job providing me a modified forged 429 ford truck crank to suit my blown 429 engine... He also provided the necessary main and rod bearings as well. all for a reasonable price... You can't go wrong with Adney and Performance Crankshafts

Cheers,

Adney did a fantastic job. Basically he trued it all up, worked his magic on oiling, lightened the crank, turned the snout to a passenger card diameter, then finished the flywheel flange to passenger dimensions and pushed in a bushing for my Lenco... The snout he left long for me at my request so that I have ample place for blower pulleys and such. The bearings he set me up with are King High Performance...

All that and shipping for less than $1100...

I'll also say this, when I contacted him, he was a**hole-deep to a tall Indian in racing crank work. He asked me if I needed it soon and I said no rush. He told me that it would be a while and he never rushed the job just to get it done and paid for. He did what he needed to do, to make a good crank... Kudos to Adney...

I'm still in the process of building this motor... I have an 8V71, (oldskool - ;-) ), style blower. I do plan to run a 3" timing belt drive on this. By the way, I'll drill bleed holes in the pulleys so that air can escape that wide-a**ed belt...

Cheers,

The mounting face should always be as close to the front main as you can get it. Unless you are forced to hang the pulley out on the end of the snout, I'd try to keep it as close as possible... Mine will be close...

Yes thats how I run mine invertered, I have seen one where it was the other way with a standard car snout it looked scary. When that manifold heats up it grows stretching the belt tighter somethign will let go.
You runnign alcohol or gas? pump driven of the front of the cam?

This is a pro-streeter... The plan is to run EFI on pump gas with about 9lbs boost... I'm making my own intake... I'm probably going to modify a tunnle ram, but I may design what I want and have it cast...

I need a 4.15 crank for my main engine and have been considering a BBC snout for strength, more boost more load on the front drive. Probably call Adney in the Fall to see what he has.
good luck with your build and lay down as much rubber when you can Very Happy
