plan on buying one this week. Miller syncrowave 200 series tig. any feedback on the unit. seems to be big enough for all i would do. welds up to 1/4 inch. I got a mig or stick if i want to go bigger. spool gun for the mig if its aluminum.

Thanks Dave

Almost the same welders we have at college for tig. Ours are the 250dx tho. Good welder either way imo. Run stick pretty well too. I have a personal preference towards water cooled torches.

I don't have any hands on experience with that one, but, Miller is usually good stuff.

i have a miller 251 mig and really like it. so figured stick with miller on this also. guy is giving me a little over 600 off. probably standard mark up accross the U.S.
thought about the water cooled option.
I cant swing the price of the 250dx though. wanted one, but tired of holding out

We have 2 here at work one is a 180 and the other is a 250. 180 is about 8 years old and the 250 is about 13 years old never had anything done on ether machine besides the leads on them. and they are used for production welding in the options dept.

I've had my Syncro 200 now for about 2 years. The only real major downside to it is the size. Its big and bulky and not overly easy to wheel around a car when doing chassis work. The other thing that would be nice is a water cooled torch. Now that I have been spoiled to death at work with a Dynasty 300 I will probably sell this 200 here in another year or so and upgrade to an inverter machine with a cooler. If I was doing it over again and was stuck at that same general price point I think I would look at the Thermal Arc 185 or the new Miller Diversion 165 if I wasn't worried about trying to smoke some thick aluminum with it.

I don't think the Syncro 200 is all that big, it's smaller than my ancient Miller Dial Arc. Now the Dial Arc is definitely a bitch to maneuver around cars & tight spots cuz of it's length.

True, it just that you get spoiled when working with these inverter machines where you can darn near put them in your back pocket when working in and around the car. For me the Syncro 200 is a bit bulky as its in my 24X30 garage surrounded by other machines, welding bench, car, etc... Its a bit cramped in my situation.
