What's the largest intake I can use with a 1.8 exhaust valve?

2.19 is about it. IMO your better off with a 2.25 1.76 combo.

with the 1.80 exhaust valve you run out of room and IMO it gets a little tight. A Good rule of thumb is 4" of valve with a stock placement head. 2.25 + 1.76 = 4.01, 1.80 + 2.19 = 3.99

Intake Flow = HP and the exhaust can be compensated for with proper cam timing. You need to get it in before you worry about getting it out.......

In a C8, C9 or D0 head the 2.200" FRPP intake valve #M-6507-B429 seems to work the best in that combination with the 1.800" exhaust valve.

Personally I like the 2.300" intake and 1.710" exhaust valve but, most pistons aren't notched large enough for that intake valve size.

Why do you like that combo though? Better power output up top?

When you cam for it ... yes. And, if you're talking WOT power, it's better everywhere, not just on the top.

Do I need to cut the chamber for the 2.3 valve? If not I may just do that then

You will probably need to relieve the piston notch if it is not a custom. 2.280" is about all that will fit radially into a normal CJ intake notch.

2.25 and 1.75 is what I have on my C9 heads.
