I have nothing else to talk about on my build so let us look down the road and do a little day dreaming. You have to stay with a 10.3 deck block and race gas.

I have always liked the old school root style blowers being that you don't have to get into electronic fuel injection and crazy exhaust work. What would it take to make 2,000hp with a root style blower, cubic inches, engine life, can you use an automatic transmission, rotating assembly requirments?

That's a little on the large size. I was thinking of sticking with a V8, 4.9 BS, 10.30 DH, 385 series Ford based, iron block.

When I was a Kid, the guy down at the corner Gulf station put a Navy Surplus ALLISON 1310-V12 engine in to a 54 Plymouth, moved the firewall and dash to the back seat and drove it around.
Later he raced a few exhibition motorcycles at the drag strips ... his name was E.J. Potter and he did some "out of the box" stuff.

Ok I must admit, that is a cool looking engine.

I debated on using the word dependable or easiest. Some how I had a feeling this is the type of replies the post would garner.

The Turbo and supercharged ones are way more than 1200......

"Allison continuously improved the engine during the war. The initial rating of 1,000 hp (750 kW) was increased in stages to where the final V-1710-143/145(G6R/L) was rated for 2,300 hp (1,700 kW). By 1944, the War Emergency Power rating on the P-38L was 1,600 hp (1,200 kW).

The most powerful factory variant was the V-1710-127, designed to produce 2,900 hp (2,200 kW) at low altitude and 1,550 hp (1,160 kW) at 29,000 feet (8,800 m). This engine was static tested at 2,800 hp (2,100 kW) and was planned for installation in an XP-63H aircraft. The end of the war ended this development, so this promising experiment never flew. The extra power of this version was derived from using exhaust turbines, not to drive a turbosupercharger, but to return that energy to turning the crankshaft. This was called a "turbo-compound" "

These numbers are conservitive "Long Service numbers" the Boat and Tractor guys exceed the number by a big margin !!! Fun, Fun, Fun.... Only problem is they are getting scarce and expensive now days, being out of production for 60+ years.....

I don't think that will fit the rules or be a winning combo in drag racing. Amazing the way I created a post that after one post went so far off topic.
