Nos timing ??

Post  jason on July 30th 2011, 5:50 pm

I sprayed a 200 plate out of the hole and it only went 9.66 and NA it goes 9.80s . So im wondering is it a converter issue or did I pull put to much timing and or put to much fuel in?I pulled 6* out .

I can't remember the jets on the kit , but the porcelain was a light brown , the fire ring was alittle sooty and the electrode changed color at the bend .

it was the same day , it flashes to 4800 roughly and it's a 9" 5400 , I didn't look to see what it drops to on the shift . The trans is a coan glide with a 1.76 first gear and the car weighs 3500 rolling

are you sure the nitrous came on all the way through the run?next thing im comserned about is u runing 1/4 mile for the first time on the frosty jug.what plugs are you useing.ngk is what most people use that are on nitrous.word is if you hurt the plugs on autolites you are most likely done, hurt the ngk it may not be as bad.do you have a deadicated fuel regulator for the nitrous and did you flow the regulator?

were you up aganst your upper revlimit during the nos run?

yes I use NGKs . I just rewired the car but yeah think it's coming in all the way . I have one fuel pump and regulator , the pump is a magnafuel 500 it maintained 7 lbs of fuel psi the whole run . Alot of guys here use one pump on a 300 kit I'm only going to 250 which is as high as the kit goes.

the one pump is fine, it's the one regulator that will get you into trouble. and your cam could be hurting you too if it is only for NA.

Your converter is probably too loose on the spray. RPM drop on the shift is a very important piece of data to know on any race car with a glide especially.

holley sales a great little regulator for about 26.00 and alot of people use them as a second regulator for nos setup.7lbs is were my fuel to carb is set and the regulator for the nos is flowed to 5lbs for my setup.

if you had the 2nd regulator flowed at 5 lbs to start with (probably a little rich for the 200 shot) you maybe in the 9.40's range like you are.

i had the 9" ptc 00 converter that flashed to 5600 then went with a 9.5" and it still flashes at 5600 but on the shift it pulls it down good when on all motor Smile when im on the Frosty bottle i can here pull down some so i know i can put the bigger pills in when needed.

Unless I missed something there's also a lot of unknowns here too ???

A "200 shot" can mean many things ??

What system and jetting and fuel pressure ???

You say you took 6 degrees out ??? Out of what base ??

What's some details on the combo ???

What did your bottle weigh before and after the run ???

Did you try and turn on from the start to the finish ???

What's the car weigh ???

What were the 60, 330, 1/8 before and after ??

Just trying to get a better idea on what's going on.. SJ
