I believe in being prepared, but the hysteria around here (upstate New York) created by local merchants was something to behold. Yesterday, the local Walmart had batteries, flashlights, bottled water, etc all prominently stacked up in the front of the store! I witnessed people buying up cases of bottled water 10 cases at a time! I was thinking that nobody owns a flashlight, as they were selling like crazy, and not a single flashlight or battery left on the shelf by 6:00 PM! I thought it was a hurricane, not the end of the world (LOL)

Wayne I agree with you. People act like they will be stranded for years without any way of reaching civilization LOL

So far, the only damage in my neighborhood was a tree in my neighbors yard came down, took out his fence, and deck. Luckily missed his home by just inches!

I'm glad y'all are making it through that mess okay. Hurricanes are nothing to take lightly, they also create Tornado's with no warning. I've been through many of them over the years, even one at sea when I was in the Navy. One hell of a ride I'll never affraid forget.

Yes sir! Went from a Pollywog to a Shellback and indoctrinated by Neptunus Rex and his Royal court. That is another experience I'll never forget Laughing Laughing Laughing .

I was in the Plant all night last night, from 630pm to 2pm this afternoon. It's the most water I've ever seen up there, and it's going to take a few days to pump it all out. The Hurricane itself didn't seem too bad to me. I was outside quite a few times with problems in the Plant, and I only went through 3 changes of clothes! Laughing I grabbed a two hour nap before dawn, and was at it again before the 7am high tide surge. That water came in fast from the Woodbridge Creek on to State Street. It was flooded in no time, and I just locked the Main Gates closed when it got to my knees. We didn't lose any power all night, which surprised me, but I think around midnight, I saw a huge blue glow over Woodbridge, and a transformer blew on Main Street/Route 9 junction. The night/day went pretty fast, so it's back to the grind tomorrow. Cool I wish I wasn't salary sometimes; that would have been a nice OT paycheck. king
