93 F250 460 With Auto Trans

How hard is it to build the trans in one the reason I ask is the Ford Dealer here has it .I stop by today he told me it wasn't for sale the tran is bad I ask what they had to have for it like it is.He did say if they had to spend $1200 to $1500 on it they wasn't going to fix it he going to let me now tomorrow what they want for it.Just wondering and would a 90 model be the same I know where I get one or the whole truck cheap but it is all beat up.It is 2wd truck I need a bigger truck to pull with

The older E4OD's had a lot of junky parts in um, but then again if your not wanting it to hold some 800+ ftlbs of diesel torque it might not be so spendy to fix.

Never know a forum member might have a bunch of stuff lying around he'd consider giving away................

I am cashing in my 401k I had at Pace sence we want be going back going to take what little I will get back and buy a tow truck the f150 with he 302 just don't have enough balls for the 24'enclosed trailer.20'open trailer and the Ranger works the crap out of it hit alittle hill put to the foor because it going to drop in a hurry. I will keep it for day driver and use the 250 to pull with.I will know something tomorrow.

Went and check it out good the salesman didn't know what he was talking about the truck has a 351w trans works but has had work on it.They replace placed rear seal and changed the filter and tighten the band he said drive see what you think.Well went out with the key battery dead jumped it off and it ran out of gas just as I started to put it in gear.I pulled the keys and went inside and handed them back to him ask what wrong with it told him out of gas he said I get some put in it told not to worry about it.Told him something telling me to leave it alone plus I can't see $3000 in it with 302,000 miles on it plus knowing the tran might not be any good.Made a offer of $1500 he said he couldn't take it he would have to get $2500 plus tax.I told him $1500 cash tax in all not a dime over.He said let me see what I can do when my boss get back left my number I want hear from them.

See if you can get the truck for $1500 and get the trans built ? That way you will at least know the transmission is good .The dealership probably would rather wait on some sucker to come in and sell it to him for $2500 though Doug

He called me about 5:30 said the lowest would have to be $1750 + tax told him I not interrested in it now.My buddy found me a 93 with a 7.3 with a 5 speed I will be getting it in a few weeks.
