how much gear lube for a 9'' 31 spline detroit locker ?

this is on my buddys 57 t bird tube chassie car, neither the rear housing or the center section have a fill hole. Im thinking 3 qts but want to make sure.

Well we filled it and it took 4 qts to bring it up to where the plug should be like moser said it would Shocked

I just have a factory housing for the time being, I dont know that a fabbed deal might take more????

The amount I use gets it to the bottom of the fill hole on the housing, its also below the axle tubes.
