I bet that dog will bite.Just not a member of the family,shepherds are very loyal and protective of the ones they love.They will tolerate strangers but let them sense someone in their household is being threatned and they become a different beast.My parents kept one when we were growing up.The door still has claw marks and a cracked window from our shepherd trying to get out to get the trash man.I'm not sure why she hated him so much but she would go balistic every time he stopped.Guess she had her reasons.

It's nice to have a back-up (the gun, I have a desert eagle 50). Just saying with laws now day's, seems the bad guy has more rights now....

I have 3 dogs , i ve always had boxers , my favorite of them all was Max , took 2 bullets to his mouth and survived ended up get killed by a snake in g-ville ....... but i have "bullet" wich is a 8 month old boxer/pit ..... nobody gets out of there vehicle unless they are bolwing the horn

Bruno there are some of th riot type pump guns out there for less than $300.If it is something your not going to use alot that might be a good option.If you plan on useing a hand gun stick with a 45. I,ve worked in a hospital for over 20 yrs and have not seen anyone in TICU shot with a 45.There have been numerious ones shot with a 9mm a few with shot guns mostly light loads but one with buck shot and one with a 44mag to the chest That one was self inflicted and he lived.My way of looking @ it is there is only only one reason to pull a gun on someone and that is to protect you and your family .If I'm forced to do that I don't want them getting up.

Bruno in Reality 99% of these guys that have these Massive hand guns Can't hit a target or any where close to it. I have owned a couple and I hated every time I shot it my wrist hurt, so I sold them.. Yes they give the guys My Penis is bigger than yours syndrome but, most couldn't hit the broad side of a barn it you put them inside the barn and close the door behind them.......... then the Side where you wish to teach the boys how to shoot......

I can hit a target with my "massive gun", and I can also hit a target with my .44...............the later dont hurt my wrist so bad.................

870 is a good choice, pump can't go wrong......12 or 20 ga

The Judge hand gun is a pretty nice home defense gun shoots 410 shotgun shell or a 45 and the recoil is not bad at all just my 2cents worth

Yeah I have shot one I also shot a derranger 410/45 long colt, good snake gun.....

On a side note my 12 year old daughter wants to deer hunt with me this year.
Her weapon of choice is a Marlin 1894 lever gun chambered in 357mag.
I can't wait to take her with and my wife can't stand the idea of her going .

Not sure about the legals in IN, but here in Nebraska, it wouldn't make the power minumum. Funny, they use different criteria for handgun and rifle, and the .357 with 180's will make power minumum in a handgun, but in the rifle it won't. Go figure. Take that kid hunting, it's one of the best ways to enjoy time with them. I've taken my oldest pheasant hunting a few times and she is starting to enjoy it, and make sure to include a friend of hers if you can. Gotta teach these kids about proper game management and gun handling while we can.

Rob the handgun caliber is measured by case length to be legal in rifles. The .357mag is the minimun allowed.

My house was broke in to over 10 years ago, they took guns and jewelry, thats it.

facebook! dogs can be good in some ways but they are also a PIA. you have to worry about who the sob's gona bite when they stop by,like kids or the mail man.if somebody is realy out to hurt you the dog is only one more shot.JMO
