Snap C6 tailshaft

Post  planotorino on November 15th 2011, 4:50 pm

The engine motor mount have the isolator (rubber) but it is pined with a bolt. The trans have a solid mount

I had the car on the Dyno and after the first pull it started leaking fluid and after the second pull it was a leaking good. Here a picture of it. Anyone have any idea what can cause this? Thanks in advance.

Motor moved, tailshaft didn't.

I recommend a rubber or poly trans mount.

Always a rubber mount on the trans, even with solid motor mounts.

A solid trans mount with rubber motor mounts will for sure do what your did..................

Like they said, factory/stock auto trans cases should always get some form of a flexible tailshaft mount regardless of what style engine mounting is used in a door car.

A few guys do solid mount the beefier aftermarket auto trans cases (from say JW, Reed, ATI) but I wouldn't recommend it. Case flexing can still sometimes have an effect on the valve body with an aftermarket case too.

Agree...agree....Agree.....flexible mount for me!
Everyone that I know that has broken a tail housing, either was involved in a bad accident or had a solid mount.
