value of 1971 429 SCJ
i asked this same question over on 460ford.com.
I found a 71 429 scj in complete carb to oil pan original condition. it's never been rebuilt or apart and it turns over freely. also attached is the original C6 with cast iron tailshaft untouched.
not sure of the mileage, but it is complete and looks to be in good original conditon.
i would like to know what the actual value of this motor would be if i was to buy it.

I would say any where from 3,000 to 5,000 depends on how complete and original it is. But I think its a fair guess.

The two things that are worth much are the heads and block, and those can be found for about $2-2500. Up to you how much to spend past that. I would try to get it for less than $2500 if it were me.

I agree about the heads and block but if it has the oil pan in good shape the brackets for the alt. power steering, original 780 cfm carb, original dual point dist.,valve covers, shaker assy. these parts could be worth a lot more and drive the price up accordingly. Still I wish I had found it!!

The little parts and hardware add up very fast if you want something origional........ but if your thinking about it for a race engine, spend the money on a A460 Block and Some P-51's, you be further ahead. Something like that is better for a restration guy who's going to preserve it or use it in a resto.
