My brothers 5.3 burban struggled with a 20 ft. trailer with a 3500 lb car. I hope you have load levelers, sway bars, and, ride rite bags.
Good Luck

depending on the trailer, and the amount of stuff crammed in it..............I'll venture a guess mine is well over 11k fully loaded, hell maybe more. The added weight will tax the trucks suspension, the increaed wind drag will tax the powertrain. It can be done but man your in for a white knuckle ride. How far do you tow to the track?

5.3's barely have enough power to get out of their own way. Also better check for coolant in the oil if you get there.

I would worry about the transmission ! Those things are weak and junk ! If it has the 4L80 you are in good shape but I doubt that you have the 4l80 with a 5.3.

My 2005 Silverado 5.3 w/ 4.10 gears ran 15.30s and pulled a 24 ft 75-80 mph all day. In fact speed wise it pulled better than my Excursion, control and brakes not so much.

I use to have a silverado 5.7 4x4 z71 and it wouldn't pull the hat off a sick Whore. all it would do is 55mph loaded out of OD... I wouldn't walk across the street to pee on it if it was on fire......
