I've used them for years, They work fine in Milder applications IMO

Do need to keep an eye on them with Big Cams and Springs or move up to a better lifter.

I've noticed them trying to spread and hard to remove when going on Bigger / More Agressive Cams.

I have Harolds engine here doing a refresh. As I was taking the Comp roller lifters out they got impossible to remove when the roller area got too the lifter bore and had to be manhandled to remove. I spoke to Harold and he said that they started in hard when they were New.They were fine after they were in all the way and cleared the bore. I removed the New ones from their box and they started in fine. I have always used these and this is a first for me.

I've never seen it happen when installing them new. seem to be the two forks spreading after use. I haven't notice it happening with the new Eleite Lifters, but I've only used these for a very limited time.

IMO don't reuse them...... Send tham back to comp and have them refreshed. Odds are a large number of them will come back broke and in need of replacement.

Yes I agree Dave. We have new ones for the build and the others will be sent back w/note asking why they were that way when new.

Valve float will spread lifters at the fork (with big springs and lift) as soon as you put them in. Lifter life is all about keeping your valve train in control.
