well i can get one for 4k its from florida theres no hitch never been towed just driven got 130k on it in nice shape

anyone know what the towing capacity it could tow ? i know the 3v is suppose to be 300hp and 365 ftlbs tq
and not be a dog like the 2v earlier ones

28ft united trailer woith a 3k pound foxbody with tools ??? wonder if i could do it , if i added air bags ...i have a distribution hitch already

It will tow it just fine....... You won't be blowing Black Smoke like Fabio...... But it will get you where you need to go.

You'll be fine towing with that. I had a 99 model with the 5.4 and towed my 26' camper with gear and everything was around 6k pounds,it did fine. Like Dave said you won't be flying with it,but it'll serve you well. 4k is a deal on an 05 model truck. You better jump all over that one.

Id be trading a 2002 crown vic sport straight up for it !!!!! but i dont know yet i may wait for a diesel eventually down the line

I have a 2000 F150 I bought new and it has been an awsome truck pulled 3 pallets of sod and one in the bed. The sod dry is 2000lbs a pallet. It will do you a good job ,But as always watch out for the dreaded 3 peice spark plugs to come appart . good luck

im still not sure yet im gonna look it over , its never been towed theres no hitch even on it. I was gonna wait until feb that when i get my 6 % bonus from my yearly salary bonus in feb. Im a machnist at Depuy Johnson & Johnson ( make mediacl implants hips , knees ect) same as the baby product company ..... 6 % of 55 k roughly as of right now .

I may wait until then take that money .....sell my 2002 crown vic sport thats mint prob get 4-5 k for it

and buy a 2wd cummins diesel ,but the deal above is not bad imo .......but the diesel is deff gonna be better

My father owns a repair shop and told me the duaramax, the ford 6.0 were the most headaches ....the dodge truck itself isnt the best but the engine wise i havnt heard anything bad about them , To bad you couldnt buy a ford with a cummins in it !!!

The problem with the Dodge is the Truck...... The Engine is nice !! cheers

I had a 2006 6.0 F350 and it went 126k (Traded it in) with very little issues. But I drove it like I stole it, changed the oil (Syn) all the time and kept up on the maintence.

Get a 02 7.3 truck cheap throw some injectors , balljoints trans rebuild with good converter, and a chip from Jon and you have a 300,000 plus mile work horse! 7.3 in my opinion are just as reliable as the cummins .

3v 5.4l's are still dogs IMO. They'll get you where you need to go but after everyone has been there and gone.

I'm doing a Cummins swap in my Excursion this winter. It's a fairly simple swap( especially a 12v) . My 5.4 has served me well for 170,0000 plus miles so you should have no problems.

Something to think about!

Wifey's 2007 3v 4.6L Mountaineer developed a intermittent miss with no check engine light. Pulled a coil pack and the plug boot looked like this.

I pulled all the coil pack/plug boots and squirted in some dielectric grease (available at auto parts stores). Reinstalled and the miss was cured. I just wonder how many coil packs have been replaced all because of a little continuity or ozone buildup problem? haha

We had 2 5.4L 3 valve trucks at work. We replaced coil packs on one of then a couple of times chasing this kind of an issue. Wish I would have known about this then.

Been about a month since I did this and it's still purring like a kitten.

i pull my 36' featherlite gooseneck with a 05 f-250 4x4. the 3v aint a powerstroke for sure but it will pull anything its rated for just fine.

Fellow racer at home track was towing 24ft tag with E250 5.4 no issues to report .
