At the Track Saturday
I have always wondered what the old girl would turn in the ¼ mile. I am still wondering. We went to Quaker City (near Youngstown, Ohio) Saturday only to find out that they were running a 1000 feet. Not a big deal because we had a great time anyway. There had to be close to 300 cars, from street stuff like mine to some guys hitting 200 mph. Lots of good running Fords and a super nice racing surface. Best pass that we could get was 9.18 at 109 mph. I foot braked the first pass and it didn’t spin a bit. The next time I felt that I rolled in a long way before I stopped so I didn’t power jack it up at all and just mashed it at the light. Smoked the tires….another burn out award. They actually backed off the guy next in line to make sure I hadn’t oiled things down. I didn’t, it was just that unhookable power. Lem told me one time that I was “traction limited”. For the last run I got up against the convertor and it hooked and ran great. It was a good time and I will definitely do it again.
Now, if I get 300 more horses, and transbrake, some kind if box thing, more tire and a ‘chute, I’d be all set.
Thanks,
Gordon

Dave,
Yes, the Crew hit the ground running....got to the end of the rope and kept right on going.
The good part about it was that there were some folks dressed up for Halloween. We weren't the strangest looking bunch there. Kind of cool to blend in with the crowd. My brother Mike won an award for his costume and he wasn’t even dressed up. We are all very proud.
