Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
Anyone know if a 1/2 pushrod will work on the brodix 201 head ? Running a 7/16 on them right now...

Any reason why you need a bigger one? are you having valve train issues? May try some tapered ones....

Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
Intake is tapered....Just found out a few days ago, exh valve was not hardened...Left a small mark on all exh valves...Intake is hardened and the looked fine...Had to send the heads back to TEA....Sent the pushrods back to Manton' They said just a few were not straight...He had no reason why they would be this way, Since the engine has only been ran 2 hours or so total...I ask if they could have came to me that way' he said not sure but shouldn't have...I have more than enough P/V Clearance , so i know thats not an issue...Unless its something to do with the valve not being hardened with the stronger spring pressures...

Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
Does sound like an alot of spring for a TI valve small block and the light rocker ratios.
What kind of RPM are you turning?
And installed height of 2.25???? That spring is so far from coil bind at only .800-.850 lift, from what I've been taught it could be doing the houlla dance?
Just read the specs on those springs..... Looks like your hanging out at over .200-.250+ to coil bind, thats not desireable from what I've learned. May want to get a shorter spring and use some real thick locators.

I havent got a chance to run it yet, because of all the screwups...TEA has the heads right now and said they would make it right....Was suppose to have hardened exh and int valves but only got intake...They are calling me in a few days and im tryin to figure out if i should get them to set the springs up for my cam...Some says go with a bigger cam or smaller spring...I can't do bigger cam without getting the tunnel 55MM....Comp says the cam is more than big enough and said the springs were fine also, but sam vincent said i was most likely have spring bounce from these springs....Said to go with a bigger cam or smaller springs also...Comp said i would be stupid to get another cam..Said this was a perfect cam and would handle 2 foggers with no problem....Think setting them up for like a 900 would be better...I figured 7800-8000 on the RPM..But thats just a guess..

Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
That spring is meant for 1.050 lift stuff and is way, way overkill, Its more inline for a 10,000+ rpm application IMO.
If it was me I'd look at alot smaller spring and put a big spacer to get the installed height down into the 2.00 range and go from there. Get the spring alot closer to coil bind and get the pressures into a realistic relm for your application. Those pressures are going to be a maintence nightmare IMO.
Something like a PAC-1224 might be a little more appropriate. Run it past Sam V. and see what he thinks.
Edit...... you'll probably need to watch trying to shim from the bottom that much, may be an issue with seals. I'd do it with a combination of locks, retainers and some shim......

Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
I ran a bit stiffer spring on my Victor headed turbo motor with 7/16" Smith Bros pushrods and had no problems. I don't think the pressure had any effect, but that distance to coil bind number is too big. We ran into that on my buddies Victor headed blower motor. It would beat the exhaust valves and seats up in a matter of a couple dozen hits. Fixed the springs and the valves and seats were happy again.

I would figure TEA would have known what to set these heads up for, but then again BB&T racing were the ones that gave them the cam spec's and info...They have my heads now and im waiting on a call...Do you guys see any problem with the cam and 2 stages of nos ? Comp and T&D said the cam was more than enough lift and should work fine...Nitrous guy said i needed a bigger cam he thought..4 comp guys said stay with the cam i have...I would have to go the 55MM anyways , cause i already had to send the BME rods back when i first built this engine for rod to cam lobe clearance...Would be too much change for all that...Just hope they can get my heads back right where i can still use the same pushrod...I have the pushrods on hold at manton right now waiting on TEA call

Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
Just glancing at the cam specs I would have expected something a big bigger, but honestly I am more of a blower/turbo guy so I am about as far from a nitrous expert as they get.

Here is what the guy that done my foggers said he would go back with...
Lift with 1.75 rockers .917 IN .903 EX
Dur @ .050 284 IN 306 EX
Int open @ 26.0 close @ 78.0
Ex open @ 95.0 close @ 31.0

Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
Those numbers are more in line with what I would have expected. I base me assumptions only off of my cam having .75X lift on an inline headed 360" turbo motor. When I see canted heads and nitrous (or NA) I automatically think big lift numbers.
Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
Like has been said....with the cam you have now a spring with 2.00" or 2.100" installed ht. should do the job.
Cam companys do tend to over recommend spring pressure i.m.o.
Your intake lobe is a RX Drag series & the exh. is a XCX Drag series. Both make good power and are not hard on parts w/Ti valves at your stated RPM.

Bigger duration or lift? Or, both?

I think i will stick with my comp cam, and give it a try...When TEA calls me i will mention about setting me up with the recommended installed ht springs...

Re: Biggest Pushrod For Brodix 201 Head ?
I figured it would be in the .900+ lift range with around a 118 lobe separation for that much nitrous.
I run 7/16 tapered pushrods with more cam and more spring pressure.
