HI
I'm in need of a bigger cam for my 466.
RPM intake, 750 Edelbrock. (can I go with a bigger carb?)
I'm running D3 heads. exhaust ported stock valve sizes, 1 1/2 headers long tube, roller tip rockers with poly locks.
77 block stock crank , truck rods , arp bolts, flat top pistons.
The cam I have now is a Luntia Bracket master II
Valve Lift is @.50
intake .516, /exhaust .543 Lob center is 110 I blieve.
block has not been decked , heads I think I had milled .10

I thimk you at about the limit until you have your valve guides trimmed down a little. Do you have it converted to adjustable valve train ?

You'll find more power in ditching the 1 1/2" ???? headers to some 1 3/4 or 1 7/8

yes its been converted to adjustable rockers w/guide plates the comp cam kit.. and I made a mistake it is 1 3/4 headers not 1 1/2..

Tim I think you better check your heads milled .10 or did you mean .010 there is a hugh difference between the two???? and the biggest cam is not always the best....

Ditching the eddy carb will definetly be worth a few hp.

I like quick fuel stuff, but proform or holley hp is ok too. I'd look for a hp series 850dp or something theirs abouts.

Thanks dfree383 for pealing me off a little of your brain on what carb. (I hope it didn't hurt)..
When I dynoed the truck the dyno guy was trying to tell me I needed to go to a 600 carb.. I though WTF.. I don't think so.. I had heard BBFords like it rich is that factual? He didn't print me out a TQ sheet but printed me out something call "Tractive effort" Shocked it was in the 1275 range.. he said it was real close to the deisel's he's dynoed..

Mixture richness has nothing to do with the rated cfm of the carb, its in the tune you put to it. Edlebrock carbs are great for someone who wants something that works easily and inexpensivly on just about any thing. But the holley dirivitives have much finer tuneability and much better selection
