How much N2O on a stock block?

Post  Ryan C on October 31st 2009, 8:11 pm

How much nitrous has anybody sprayed on a stock block with a plate system? I have a 545 w/ blue thunder heads, victor intake, 1150 dominator, all forged internals, and a main gurdle with a 13:1 comp ratio. I'm trying to get an idea of how much i can spray without catistrophic failure? I'm only spraying it in the 1/8th.

The car went 9.98 @ 133 at 3150 1.38 60' and a 6.28 @ 109 and a 1.35 60' on 275 drag radials with a super comp C4 and 3.73 gears and a very loose converter. converter has been tightend but i havent made any passes yet.

Thanks
Ryan

I forgot to mention that the times I posted are all on motor. I have not sprayed it yet. I'm going to start with 150 hp shot on a hand button and work my way up. I would be happy if I can spray 250 with a proggressive system without any major problems.

Pretty sure Frank is running the A460 block, well, I know its not a stocker, not 100% sure of which one.

I'm running a 200 shot through a plate on a stock block.

545 CI, 11.9:1. 4160 lbs car goes 10.80's on motor and has gone a best of 9.95 @ 135.5 on a 200 shot.

All I did to prep for the spray was to run Hellfire rings with loose gaps. I'm running a stock deck with Fel-Pro 1018 gaskets, no block fill, and no o-rings....no head studs either.....main studs, yes....

I don't know how our HP levels compare, but I have the feeling that I could spray more and the block would not be the limiting factor.

Good luck, and you've got a great looking car man.

I'm putting together a 466 with SRP forged flat tops, SCAT h-baeams, stock crank, d0ve heads decked .030, ARP studs, Felpro 1018 gasket all on a D1 block that has been zero decked. My builder said I was good to 250, but make sure the tune was good before I went that big. We'll see how it all goes.

. the zero deck on that motor will not take detonation good at all try to read as much as you can on tuneups prior to hitting it and i would start with 100hp first and work up slowly. N20 is just like Crack once you get started you cant stop lol!

That was my plan. I have a new Cheater kit that I'm putting the lowest setting in then work my way up. I need to get some the VA fellas to come out to the mud pit and help me get it tuned right!

all over, usually at vmp, smiley rock, fredericksburg, northern neck atv, and if they open again, back up at Mountainview in Stafford. I've got the truck torn down getting it ready for the winter, but next spring I'll be teating and tuning with the new spray setup. Very Happy

well on my old 521 stock block 250 on a nx sys and then went to a nano sys and put it on a 325 diet it did fine but when i went to 375 on the nano sys it went to hell cracked cyc wall and fill it full of water . and as you know thats bad! broke the crank in 5 pieces bent 2 rods and broke the main #3 all the way down to the cam bushings . it was not filled. the nitrous did not hurt the pistons the block just gave out plus it had a blowed head gasket and i did not know it untill it was too late
but thats my story
i would say 200- 225 would be ok if every thing is set up right
