New Ford crate 572

Has anyone heard anything about this??? I saw a blurb on FB about it but no real info. Lem, Randy, you know anything about this??

I think it's a 577 seen it in Ohio in June Ford trailer in midway PPG show they had no information on it yet.

Any details, parts used?

^^^^^Interesting reading the comments about the Hp estimates, I hope it makes over the published 700 for the gm 572.

Just spoke with Ford Racing about the 577 crate engine, since I was so skeptical, about them doing anything new, 385 related. Well, it is real and they are working on it. Tech guy said if he had to guess, it would be available early 2017. There was old management in place that didn't want this; new management came in and gave it a green light, so it is definitely happening.

I specifically asked about the hydraulic roller setup and how it was being tested durability wise. This is engine is going through the same durability test that all the crate engines get. No parts for this engine will be sold separately in the catalog; it is crate engine only available. The is also nothing else (from Ford) on the horizon for the 385 series engines.

This will be an interesting engine, given the from Ford, hydraulic roller setup. Can't wait to get some reviews/feedback about this particular engine.

So far, the one I'm building is just like this, except for the intake. I haven't decided on the cam yet.

There was a C460 stroker kit and a machined block with roller cam bearings ready to be honed to 4.600"

No it did not sell well. Seems Ford was about a decade ahead of the curve on that program.

Should be the perfect time to revive it.

i think the problem with a C head crate motor is it doesn't fit many factory chassis. also most of the people building motors with them build dedicated application specific race motors. they wouldn't sell many.

They should offer it in Boss 429 (Kaasse) headed form!!...with big cam, big compression, and big 4500 series induction!!
