Fuel pump for alcohol? Empty Fuel pump for alcohol?

Post  Fast Fox January 12th 2010, 8:33 am

I have always used the holley black fuel pumps because they are cheap and work great but after time they get full of gunk I guess the alcohol eating the aluminum. Then you have to pull the bottom plate and clean it out real good. Is there something that works trouble free with alcohol but without spending $350.

I've run a BG280 on my Mustang for 8 years . I had to put a seal in it once and clean it a time or two. I don't think you'll run anything on methanol for an extended period of time without having to do a little periodical maintenence. As long as whatever pump you use will substain the fuel pressure you need , any of them should work for a while. king

I even have to replace the seals in my Magnafuel once a season, its part of the alky deal.

How about using a top end lube in your alcohol?

Saves your pump also and keeps your fuel system corrosion free.

Ran top lube, made no difference. If you want the best set up with little mantainance the belt driven pumps are best. The electric pumps are a pita but can be made to work. I think a 250 or 280 would be the minimum, I ran ywo of the mallory 250 pumps on my bb and just one on the sb.
