What octane race gas should you run on a 12.6:1 engine?

Knowing that you have to run _________ race gas for the 12.6:1 engine what would be the max CR for that fuel?

I was just thinking of alky. Only down fall is if I wanted to make a run to the local Sonic. Besides that I would be all for it.

Get a large enough cell for the trip... you will be using it for fuel, not sippin it. Smile

VP-110 or C12 is what I would use. If you decide to run the spray, I would probably use C16. As you can tell I am a VP Fuels user.
The VP-110 would be the cheapest but C12 is the most common fuel used in NHRA sportsman from what I have seen. I think the VP-110 is good to the 13:1 range and the C12 is good all the way to about 15:1. We were told by a couple of familiar nitrous gurus to run C16 with our nitrous program, which we did. Our motor was 14.5:1 and it sounded meaner with C16 over C12 but I never dynoed it after the switch.

130.00 a drum, your cell is big enough, use an electric pump and a good carb..............don't even try the injection stuff on the street.

If I go alky would I need to get a larger fuel pump and run larger lines than -8? How are you suppose to size your fuel system for alky? Much different than gas?

I had a magnafuel prostar 500 and the big regulator, kid aint paid for it yet so it could still be for sale lol.

-12 from cell to pump (just used a swivel coupler) -10 from pump to reg, -8 from reg to carb. You can a carb converted if you already have one, the 1050 dommy makes an excellent size.

Largest carb I have right now is a 850dp, Looking into a Phillips suggestion for race gas 1150 or 1250 dominator or one of those SV1 carbs setup for alky from Patrick. What are you going mechanical? I wish that new TF intake would hurry up and come out. I have to buy a carb and have that money set aside.

Jones, get you set-up running on gas first. The 110 vp or sunoco supreme is fine. Stop screwing around or you'll never get it running.........

I am thinking of running e85 on a bracket car. the only problem is that it is not easy to find around a lot of tracks I go to which means that I would have to carry it with me which is not a big deal.

I agree, there is only one place local that sales the stuff. I would just assume pay for race gas or alky than that big headache. Its a hard choice,,,,, race gas or alky scratch
