06 F250 problem
My nieces ex soon to be husband (out of work teenager) Bought this 06 F250 with giant lift kit, 40" tires, exhaust, K&N intake and probably a programer. IT was loping real bad at idle and we told him that it's not suppose to be running that rough, so we suggest he changes the fuel filters. He changes the fuel filter and the truck starts running a lot better. So he proceedes to go out on the town and give the truck hell. Gets about 10 miles on the truck and it quits, he says it just died. Tow the truck back to the house and notice the coolant tank is empty. Check the oil for water, refill the tank and the truck just spins over and never tries to fire. Don't notice any coolant in the exhaust and no bubbles in the cooling system.
Where should he start looking for the problem? He is in debit big time with the truck, should he just let the truck go back and be repo?

Well, I guess so. I'm sure it's the banks fault. Damn those money making bastards.
Or, maybe he could show some responsibility and step up to the pump and either fix it, or make the person who sold it to him make it right.
Sorry, but I'm not on the Obama page!

Re: 06 F250 problem
if you cant afford the vehicle you own ultimately its the owners responsibility.
Still odd why someone would lend a teenager enough money to buy such a vehicle is beyond me.
anything other than paying the piper, and fixing the truck properly, would result in someone getting screwed in some way shape or form....
options:
1) sell it as is.... what happens to balance of loan?
will it be left with a lein on it for next owner?
2) Repo.... self explainitory. bad credit for however long. now what to drive??
3) Get a job wherever will hire. Penny pinch, swallow pride, save enough money to have it fixed, sell the thing, buy something he can afford.
4) Get off his ass, Get a job that pays well, do the right thing, and stop being a burden to society.
my choices personally if i was in said situation would be 3 or 4.

Re: 06 F250 problem
Normally I would agree with you in the fact that he either needs to fix it or sell it, but not just let it go back. But, who in there right mind would finance a teenager this much of a truck?
Supposedly the the original owner worked off shore and did all these awsome modifications and for some reason he just let the truck go back, "the kid says". Which sounds like to me the original owner knew that he hurt something in the engine and instead of fixing the truck he just let it go. So here comes this kid that only sees a F250, KR, 40's and a giant lift kit and just can't resist himself and there is no one there to stop him. "If we had known that he was going to attempt to buy something like this we would have slapped him silly. "Now the truck is a yard orniment in my brothers yard, which he wants out of his driveway."
HAHA, I told him if the price is right I might could buy the truck and swap a BBF under the hood!!!

I have always wondered how in the world do you work on a diesel that is lifted and has a giant grill guard? Heck, when I had the excursion I had to lay a thick blanket across the engine and the lay on the engine to work on the turbo.

Lets not make this all political. True, it's stupied situation but it happend and lets be real in our expectations. The kid is either going to get help finding the problems and get them fixed. Or no one is going to help him and he is going to let it go.

Come on Jones, you started the thread, you asked the question.
It's like you want us to say its ok for him to bale out on his obligations. I wasn't sure of the relationship, is it your nieces ex or her soon to be husband, or soon to be ex?

It's a 6.0 diesel.
I was just asking for my bro, if any one might know something to try. I might have shared unimportant information.
Point is it won't be going to a dealership to be repaired if it's in his position.
