A460 Intake Recommendation -- Tunnel Ram vs. Single Plane
I am curious which intake you guys/gals recommend.
-- 547 bbf
-- max RPM < 6,500
-- A460 heads (as-cast)
-- turbocharged
-- Pump gas, street driven (regularly)
I am not sure what the runner length is for the two intakes. It seems like the TR would have longer runners and, therefore, work a little better at the lower RPMs. Hood clearance is not an issue. If I go TR, I'll use the pent roof, single carb top for it.
Have a good day!

The A head ram has short runners for a tunnel ram. I have been measuring different intakes here lately. The old TFS tunnel has long runners.
Charlie did an a-b test between the two and saw good torque out of the older one and it held it's own in the hp department at it's peak rpm.
If it were me I would run the single plane............. JMHO
Plumbing simplicity........ would be better(easier).

With a Turbo Charger I'd Stick with the singe 4 intake.

Re: A460 Intake Recommendation -- Tunnel Ram vs. Single Plane
My combo loves the tfs tunnel ram base with a box upper, we rev 7300 rpm but on the dyno it makes stupid power all over. Its a 533 with a 4.3 stroke single 106 turbo. I had a good welder weld the box directly to tunnel ram and rear facing t/b. The tunnel ram injector pads drilled out for efi injectors, also had 2 pads on side to bolt fuel rails to already embosed. On a tune i know we could run pump gas we can make 1200 rwhp at 13-14 lbs.
With only 14 lbs boost timing turned down 5 degree's from race setting on crappy track on radilals pedaled 3 times on data log went 172 mph at 3500lbs last weekend. ye ha

I have always just ran one carb for the simplicity of the set up. I don’t need to much to work on and the simpler the better for me. 2X4’s make more power and if I was all motor I might go that route but I have extra power with the change of a jet…you have the turbo.

Guys, thanks for your input!
Just to be clear, I am not interested in a 2x4 setup. Under boost, a single 4150 carb is more than adequate. Besides, I'll probably have my hands full with just one carb

Re: A460 Intake Recommendation -- Tunnel Ram vs. Single Plane
Use the single 4 barrel. The tunnel ram with the pent roof top will be really tall after you put the elbo on it. I to had this same decision for my E-headed 500 c.i.d procharged engine. I ended up having the TFS A-460 single 4 barrel modified to fit my head/block combo. It would have cost the same for a custom sheetmetal intake, but the single 4 barrel opens up more race opportunites.
