Single venturi Pro systems carb.
Is anyone using the SV-1 from Pro-systems or have used in the past? Wanting some feedback before I consider buying one. Little pricey I think but could be worth the money. Thanks

Here is a friend of mine. This was in April. He has since been tuning on it a little and I saw the car run 10.20's in the heat 2 weeks ago. He loves the thing. His 1/8 mile times should have him runninig 10.0's-.10's , It has been some 6.40's but the car is no streamliner either.

I think it was on the 460 site that Patrick James said you need 700 horsepower for them to work right.

Re: Single venturi Pro systems carb.
Emailed with Patrick James today and he said for my combo. it would cost 500 dollars extra for about 10-15 horsepower. He would use a 4150 base.

Frank works with Charlie Booze on that wagon - I can assure you there wasn't anything about that combo that was too far from what was needed.

Lem I would say if Uncle Charlie was doing the head work I could see 25-40 hp for that money. The cam and lifters netted me more then that also for less money.

Right with what Brian said. Don't under estimate the tuning capabilities of Charlie Booze. He works at racing if that make sense and is probably one of the best at applying his knowledge to a racecar in ALL aspects. They did not throw this wagon together, they have been working at this combo for sometime now. Just step back and take a good look at that FullSize Wagon............... how light is it?? and how aerodynamic ??? How many bolt on parts for this thing??? Oh yeah and how big of a tire is he makinng this work on ??

No disrespect to the owner or engine builder , just that the carb deal seemed small

Re: Single venturi Pro systems carb.
.how much would it have picked up going from the well tweaked 950 to a good dommy?
Lots of threads on this on drr, no real conclusions....................I'll bet my injection is faster than a well tweaked sv1................I would even do the testing if someone will send me one..............alky of course. Be an easy swap.......A-B-A-B testing wont lie....

We ran a Prosystems 4150 1000cfm carb on our 418 sbf that made 775hp at 7900rpm on Keith Crafts dyno and thought that maybe it was too small but that is what Patrick recommended. Moved to built 1150 cfm (another carb company spec'd this carb for our combo) dominator and gained 7hp at the top but lost an average of 20ft/lbs torque throughout the power band. I think a lot of people over carb there combinations.
but my new combo has a single 90mm venturi. but it also has 8 injectors in the manifold. so I guess it's not the same

Re: Single venturi Pro systems carb.
Ever notice most every carb is 50 something ? 1050 - 1150 - 1250 - etc.
Aint no way they move in exact 100 CFM blocks. Does a 1250 with a skirted booster flow as much as one with a straight booster? Hell no....something to consider when comparing carbs cfm.

I did not take it that way either. Just stating that these guy's work on thier stuff to no end, where as most bolt something on, say it did not work, and take it right back off. Much like an airpan deal, just can't put one on and expect miracles. It takes a lot of effort to get ALL the little things right.
