fuel line size

Post  kjett on Tue Aug 03, 2010 12:59 pm

I'm putting the nitrous kit on my 466. I've got the nitrous stuff all plumbed from the bottle all the way to the plate and the fuel from the plate all the way to the regulator. My question is what size fuel line should i use from the pump up to the regulator? I have 1/2" aluminum line feeding my main fuel system with no issues and have extra of the aluminum tube, but want to make sure it's not going to be too big to feed the no more than 250hp shot. So is the 1/2" good or should I drop it back to a 3/8" line?

on my 528 I have a -12 from the Cell to the Pump and a -10 from the pump to the Regulator and -8 to the carb.

for a plate NO2 system like yours I'd think -10 to the pump, -8 to the regulator / solinoids would be way plenty.

Thanks everyone. I'll run the 1/2" (or -Cool aluminum line up from the nitrous pump to the regulator. I have an Aeromotive A2000 pump supplying the normal fuel supply to the carb and a Holley Blue to feed the nitrous system. Just wanted to make sure the 1/2" line was warranted with such a small shot.

If you had to do it over, I would just run a -10 line to the front and put a tee before the carb reg and run the nitrous off the same line with a little holley regulator. then use your current line for the return from the carb reg. The A2000 is plenty of pump for both and you wouldn't have to wire two pumps. this way you could spray whatever you wanted or not at all.

The only use I have for a holley blue pump is to pump diesel out of our Pete's tank into our remedy sprayer when spraying mesquite trees. Very Happy

Part of the reason for going with the a2000 pump was the return built into the pump itself so that I wouldn't have ot run a return line to the front. Makes for a nicer deal. Very Happy
