Windage Tray

Post  Mark Laczo on September 20th 2010, 5:54 pm

Anyone have any experience good or bad with using a FMS windage tray that was made for the A460 block ? Any info or comments ?

Thanks Mark

windage tray

The reason I ask is that I have never heard of one that Ford produced. There is one for sale on the other site and it looks to be A460 block specific. There must not have been much demand or not very widespread at all.

I've never seen or used one built by ford for an A460 Block, on the two a460 Block motors I have we fabricated trays from diamond mesh and attached it to the main bolts.

I have also modified the Canton Tray and used it on A460 Blocks too.

FRPP has not offered that tray for several years...I think it'll fit any of the 429-460 blocks.

Not to hijack this thread.... but I would like to see thoughts on oil pan suggestions,
I have a 514 thats going back in for now. (It will see only drag racing), melling HV pump, forged Crank, Miller 396 6.8 rods, I shift at 6800, roll thru @ 7100-7200.
Car is open chassie but want to keep crank centerline @ 12" or less so I want a rear sump pan, however I want the best oil controll possible for a wet pan so give me your thoughts.

Lem would really like to here what you think, I have had Charlie tell me I should get your input on this, so I'll be what you call a "sponge" on what you think....

Thanks for any help.
Terry

forgot to mention, I have a main girdle on the motor, do you think this would clear it?
how much did you pay for it?
and did you have to fab a pickup for it

I'd lose the girdle and put a good pan on it.............. Wink

Price varies, Lem can get with ya on that.

The pickup is for an external style oil pump.
