vacuum pump

Post  KY JELLY on September 29th 2010, 11:27 am

I got Travis' vac pump on had to go with a 2" crank pulley 1 " smaller than what was with it due to space limitations . It will pull 12" in just a little bit, gonna have to turn down the relief Shocked . I guess there ain't nothing wrong with that Lem Evans ring package . Very Happy .

If I didn't know better I would swear there was a pair of e vac tubes stuck in Fabio's cheeks pullin on that sucker lol!

I take it this is not the elec smog pump deal you got from Lem, those pumps are good for about 4" on a non running engine.

He did say crank pulley so it's gotta be belt driven.

Good deal. Now don't panic when you shut the car off and it whistles as it bleeds the pressure off. Sometimes its pretty loud.

Should note that it is a 4 vane Moroso for a dry sump setup. I ran it on my wet sump deal just limited the vacuum with a cheap ass releif valve. Never had a minutes problem.

I told Randy that a friend has one that is 1;1 driven on a B-1 Mopar engine. Barton recomended as much vacuum as he could pull. Wet sump also, No gauge, You can actually see it suck the tops of the valve covers down when he free revs it with the hood off. affraid It's gotta be starving something of oil somewhere , I'll let you know when it flies apart.
