Headers to big? Empty Headers to big?

Post  FORDMUD October 6th 2010, 5:26 pm

I've got a 466 with ported A429 heads, with raised exhaust ports and a 58cc chamber.
comp 270 Hyd cam
CJ stealth
13 to 1
Stock Rods with flat top hypers
running 2" mad dogs
Engine runs from 5800 to 6100 depending on mud.

I know its far from ideal, But its what I have and does run decent.

I need the 2" headers for another truck, and the only others I have are a set of 2.25" up sweeps.

I'm planning on swapping to a Torker II, and maybe running the big headers.
Any guess at what its going to run like?
Will it lose all bottom end?
Might it make more HP from 5000 to 6000?

I'm going to a brake also. I'm thinking the low end loss may not be a huge deal. Just kind of worried they may hurt it everywhere. scratch

I went from 2" with a 3.5" collector to 2 1/8 to 2 1/4 step headers with a 4" collector on my old Dove headed 466. It did kill the bottom end but I was able to get it back by adding a slip on reducer on the collector that reduced the 4" down to 3.5". You can also play with collector length to get you where you need to be. Now when I built the 512" it liked the 4" collectors so I left the reducers off.
