Got my John Wayne fix for a while

Went shopping with the wife at Wal-Mart and they had a big bin full of DVD's for $5. What the hell, I figured, give it a shot.

Woo-hoo. First one I grabbed was a collection of 20 "Billy the Kid" movies, mostly the Buster Crabbe ones from the 40's. I am working on teaching a class on Western Films at my university, so this was a good find for me.

Second was some 5-part documentary on the Indian wars. The "History Channel" freak in me was satisfied.

Third, motherlode. 25 John Wayne movies for $5!! Granted, most of them are the ones from the 30's but it does have "McLintock" in there. But, then again, a so-so John Wayne movie beats an Oscar winning film these days.

Dug around a while hoping to find "True Grit." Not to be had. That movie has the best line from a Western, when John Wayne challenges Robert Duvall by saying "Fill your hands, you sunnuvabitch!"

You caused a lot of problems pilgrim. Gotta love them John Wayne movies.

I couldn't agree more. My son and I just watched Chisom last weekend, some great scenery in his movies as well.

A John Wayne day is when they shoot 50 rounds at you from point blank range just like in the movie's and miss. That is a good day or as we call it your having a John Wayne day all is good!
