Transmission weight
FORD GM Power Glide
C-6 173lbs TH400 181lbs
c-4 135lbs TH350 165lbs
AOD 700R4
All Transmissions were weight dry and with dipstick tube, converter and mounts . These transmissions where all stock and with stock converters.
I will be adding weights and more transmissions .
The above weights are mine the below weights are what I found on my search for more trans info
Ford -O-Matic 228lbs
FMX 160lbs
C4 110lbs
C6 140lbs
AOD 150lbs
Trans Bellhousing
Face to Trans
Mount Length Overall Length
From Bellhousing
To Tailshaft End
C4 20¼-inches 30½-inches
C6 22½-inches 33½-inches

Interesting data...... I'm assuming weight is with a stock convertor?

Can this be made a sticky so that everyone can find it easily for reference. I was surprised that the Turbo 400 and 350 weighed more than their Ford counterparts!

an e4od 4r100 is just shy of 300#s w converter................

These Numbers where with stock not hp transmissions taken 20 plus years ago.

I'd bet money a 6r80 trans has the least amount of parasitic drag in 1-1..............no bands or one way rollers ...

I would like to see what the parasitic drag of a full race prepped and rollerized c-6 is. My guess would be in full race trim and rollerized that all transmissions would become extremely close in parisitic loss.

I took out a C-6 and installed a Power Glide and the glide weighed 15 lbs less,
Glide was JW case with bell full roller with 9" conv. with a quart in conv.
, C6 was pulled fluid drained but 9" conv. was full
A stock case would weigh less but I didn't trust it behind a BBF
