I think they are doing it in Indy also, they don't expect many spectators.

Re: Heads up Dragster class !!!!
Trying to hook up 1000hp, 1900 lb car on skinner tires will be quite different. We would have to run a taller tire or the bottom of the pipe rack will be dragging the ground. You guys might think that would be the show, but as a driver, we just want to have fun.

Re: Heads up Dragster class !!!!
I think it's a stupid idea
What's it prove? Who can buy the best traction control device? It's like inviting a bunch of bad crashes and wrecks IMO. Is NHRA approving this in the name of "safety"? It's like oiling down a track and then saying now go make a pass. I used to run obstacle courses when I was in the Army, I sure don't want to have a race car driver running one now with 1000+ Hp behind them.

I think the dragster on 10.5w would be safer than a mustang trying to to the same thing. IMHO

Re: Heads up Dragster class !!!!
Curt most likely you're right. I guess that explains why Lem, Phillip and myself saw Samuel Vincent do a complete 360* loop at about the 600' mark at Beech Bend during the NMRA World Finals a few years back. I'm not a "fan" of the 10.5 tire deal in either case.

Re: Heads up Dragster class !!!!
Yeah, I know. I understand. But the big honking tires we run now are just point and shoot. The outlaw class would add some new competition to the field.

Re: Heads up Dragster class !!!!
You want to limit a drag car.... do the circle jerk thing and make them use a 390 cfm carb...... or a 2v.....
