460 mounts for 80 F150

Post  FORDMUD on April 22nd 2011, 10:04 am

I need some solid mounts to put a 460 where a 351m is now. I saw the L&L kit with some sort of spacer plate and rubber mounts, but I want to solid mount it. I didn't see what I needed on trans dapt. Who else may have some?

Trans Dapt 4225 is a solid mount. I used 4226 for mock up in my 79 and they dropped right in the 400 holes, I did have to loosen the tranny/transfer mount for a little wiggle room but those bolts tightened back up within 1/8" from where they were before.

EDIT: WOW, when I bought the 4226 set I have they were the same price and the solids, they are now 2x as much.

I'd just use the factory setup from an F250/350. I used them in my mud truck for 3 years beating the heck out of them with no issues. Cool

X2... You can find them at just about any wrecking yard for about $50-$60. Just ask for them for any 80-97 F250/350. You'll have to pop the factory rivets from your frame, but the 460 mounts will bolt right up. They have rubber in them, but I just took mine to my machine shop and had him bake them. Then I just welded them up solid.

I made my own solid mounts but the aftermarket or boneyard mounts are your easiest choices.

X2 on this. The factory mounts have about four times the amount of isolating and adhering rubber than any aftermarket set I've ever seen. I'm going to put them in my 77 F250 and I'll never have to look back, guaranteed.

Ok at least twice the amount of rubber, and then some.

You can make the factory ones solid. Just have a machine shop that has an oven bake them, and the rubber goes bye-bye. Then just weld them up solid.
