86 F250 460, stock ignition system, as said starts right up and runs fine for 10-20 seconds then just shuts off. Pulled in garage one night running just fine then next morning this happened....any thoughts

don't believe it's fuel cause it will fire right back up. just dies in a few seconds. Somebody told me there was a oil pressure switch that if it showed no oil pressure it would shut off the fuel pumps....is this true. I didn't think a carbed engine would have this.

That's got the old square electronic ignition box on the the inner fender. It's probably the problem if it does have it

Check the ing coil had the same thing happen to my 69 F100 yes it has the electronic box the blue one had the same thing happen to me one time.Put a new box on it same thing fire up and go dead or then it might run until I touch the gas go dead changed the dizzy same thing so I decided to change the coil fired up ran like a top.I would have never figured it was the coil because most of the time the coil will not fire when it bad but this one would fire until it fired up.

simple test do you have a test light ? if not get one . hook test light to good ground and probe terminals at coil with key on both should light up brightly, crank engine over with test light probing negative side of coil should pulse if not you have a bad pickup in distibutor, if no light on negative side of coil before cranking bad coil.

Well the fix was the oil pressure safety switch that shuts off the fuel pump in case of no oil pressure. Installed a new one and it's all good....thanks for the help guys
