695hp pumpgas deal that anyone could build!!!
Figured I would share my previous build that I put together.
040" over D1VE block decked .020" for .003" deck clearance
Coast High Performance 523 Scat 4340 crank and rods stroker kit with 22cc dished pistons for 11.02:1 compression
TFS Streets OTB other than a spring upgrade
TFS Trackheat intake OTB
QFT Q-series 1050
Howards solid roller cam 258/268@.050" 296/304adv 110lsa installed on 106icl
Harland Sharp S4005 roller rockers
Very simple combo pushed my 3550# Ranger to 10.50's@130. I did not have it dynoed but according to calculator and slide rule it was making 695hp@6300. Ran on 93 octane all day even in 106* temps.
Just figured I would share my combo. It would have done much better ET but the converter was way too tight.

Re: 695hp pumpgas deal that anyone could build!!!
It served me well but trust me the new bullet is no pumpgas deal
You know it motivated me even more to build that engine when all the nay-sayers said I couldn't do it.
PS I honestly planned on driving it on the street was the reason for pump-gas but I quickly realized it was so much fun that I would not have a license long with all the power it made so I sold the mufflers and stopped driving it on the street.
My license was my livelyhood.

VERY similar to my 520, Except ported (C. Evans) heads of the same brand. Similar Cam (260-266 @ .050) Comp street roller. Victor (Probably made worse in the plenum by me) , and a QFX 1050 with almost no changes. Zero deck, Probe dishes (11:1 abouts), 2in. Headman, and FUN! @ 30 degrees made 692@6300 and 650@ 4500-5000. Somebody put a header gasket on backwards , so a bit of that bank 1 exhaust was restricted. Now, I like the "form your own, silicon gaskets" .

It was actually a nitrous converter I bought it before I knew much about converters. I did have it loosened up a little on the lowend but it would have taken a major rework to make it right, new combo is getting a custom converter built to it though (lesson learned). I went with a nitrous converter to get the anti-ballooning front plate not realizing they were set up differently as far as stall... because the previous converter was ballooning behind my 466 and took out 2 front pumps in my C6.

First gonna see if it will still hook with whats under there then if it doesn't I will install an S&W ladderbar kit, they make one specifically for my truck and from what I have seen they fit very nicely. I have already had a bunch of people say to go 4-link but I have experience with LB's and it would take quite a bit more fabrication to install a 4-link because of the way the frame kicks up.

Kaase sent a plain engine with his new P-51 heads out west for a magazine to dyno it and write an article about it ... they put one of the header gaskets on backward and nobody there ever noticed it. Kaase found it when it got shipped back.
Even though the article was 20 horsepower shy, they were so used to that Chevy horsepower that they were still impressed and wrote it up minus the 20. Only a few Ford people ever noticed.
Putting big block Ford header gaskets on backwards is a pretty normal occurrence if one doesn't look closely.
I even bought a pair of headers one time where the flanges had been installed backwards.
Re: 695hp pumpgas deal that anyone could build!!!
I think I can remember reading about that somewhere (P.H.R. magazine maybe?). Called Charlie when we finished that day, he figured about the same left on the table. What could've been? Oh well, that doesn't make the truck faster NOW! But it's great to keep in mind. Never the less, I was super-pleased the way this simple for most, big for me combination worked out. Pretty low maintenance, mostly street gas, and ballsy. To me, anyway.

I know this a old thread but I have he same motor build going. It’s going into a 79 f150. wondering if I can get more on your cam specs. I am going to run solid flat tappet. Just trying to figure out how big I should go. Really wanting 700hp. Going to be a play truck for silver lake sand dunes.
