Transmission mount question Empty Transmission mount question

Post  Mike R June 14th 2013, 1:10 am

I'm using a motor plate to mount the engine in my wagon. As far as the transmission mount goes do I want to use an OEM style rubber mount or should I use a urethane mount like this one  http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-6068AU/79-98-Ford-Mustang-Urethane-Trans-Mount or this one http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/PT-61604BL/79-98-Mustang-Urethane-Transmission-Mount and should I keep the rubber bushings in the cross member or should I use something like these http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/PT-61603BL/82-93-Mustang-Urethane-Trans-Crossmember-Bushings

I was told when I did my motor and mid plates to keep the rubber mount for the transmission. The thought was that with the solid mounting of the motor, if you also solid mounted the trans it would likely break the case if you have frame flex. The rubber mount will allow for some "give" and save your case.

If your talking glide... Get one for a 62-67 nova.  That's what I asked for.  Was like $6 or something.

We had that on a stock mustang one. We just cut the tack welds on the ends and slid it around for the glide. I still use that same mount for the cross members that we build now. I'm not familiar with the crossmember you speak of though.
