Great stuff Dave. The Flying Carpet certainly lived up to it's name. Don't know why, but Grumpy Jenkins climbing out of his car with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth made me laugh.

Don Bowles' Mustang.....that's Jack Roush in the yellow coat by the windshield.

By today's standards that looks like a 4 wheel drive...relative to ride ht.

I watched that car run at Columbus (Spring Nationals )in Mid/late 70's Lem. Him and I talked about it at the Tech Seminar. A piece of History for sure.Very Happy

Those really were the days. Old farts like me and Rick and Lem got hooked by that kind of stuff. I don't know what was cooler...the cars in that video or the old gassers (ala Stone, Woods & Cook). Cool  It's probably a good thing that those tires didn't hook better...those jacked up cars would've spent more time on their roofs.Shocked

In the late 60's, my weapon of choice (translation: what I could afford) was a really ugly '62 Fairlane (sleeper:sleep: ). Jeez, did I ever break a heap of parts with that turd!

Whats really crazy is back in the mid 70's Harold Stout was Campaigning Bob Gliddens old 64 Tbolts in SS/C and it was National record holder at 10.40's. He was at Trails (spring nationals). The car had a FS sign in the window. I ask him what the asking price was. He said 10k. I thought W0W,what a rediculous price. But,that was a lifes savings back then. If we only knew.Rolling Eyes
