cam pin broke.....

I had a cam pin snap at 6000 rpm's the other day.. i tore down the motor and all of the valves are bent and all the pushrods are bent a little bit... i have good h-beam rods in it and i was wondering if I should worry about the rod bearings ?

If it's that far apart, a check of the bearings would not take much effort. It would be very comforting to know the exact condition too.

I had that problem on a sbf before.i almost fixed the topend but went ahead and pulled the pan.i found a piston skirt but no bad bearings or bent rods.

Good point....it'd be more like that 'it' would punish a skirt than a rod bearing.

Always double pin the cam.

roller cam with about 700 pressure open..
I did check the pistons and they look fine. didn't pull any rod bolts...
starting it tomorrow... see what happenes... and

It is double pinned now.....

Motor is running perfect... raced on it, and took a third place....
