Lets see...bringing it gently up from idle to spin a wet tire...vs.... a 7400 rpm shift into high gear on a tire that's hooked up downtrack?  Which one is harder on the clutches?

I won't answer that one myself, but I've never hurt a trans with my method...ever.  and that's been a very long time now. Wink

C6 with 3.89's here on a 28.5" . I run her up to 5500-6000 in 1st, bang it into 2nd and watch the tach lug down to 5000, look for good smoke in the mirror and then roll out of it. I bump it to neutral for a couple throttle stomps and then wait for the starter to motion us to the beams. I must see good smoke from the burnout out or she will spin and my 60ft will be .10 slower guaranteed. Hazing the tires doesn't work for me as we have very little track prep here. They spray the VHT to about the 330' mark by hand, no fancy track gear here...LOL...I've watched them spray it to the 1/8th when some of the 7/8 second cars were struggling to go straight from the tree.
